Sharjeel Memon Inaugurates Two New Peoples Bus Routes in Khairpur, Announces Expanded Transport and Welfare Schemes

Sharjeel-Memon

SUKKUR/KHAIRPUR MIRS: Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon inaugurated two new routes of the Peoples Bus Service in Khairpur Mirs, calling it a historic and joyous occasion for the district’s residents.

Speaking at the ceremony, Memon said the service was launched under the vision of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, President Asif Ali Zardari, Faryal Talpur, and Sindh Chief Minister to provide affordable, comfortable, and reliable transport to the people of Khairpur.

He highlighted that the PPP has delivered record development and public welfare projects across Sindh’s villages, talukas, and districts in every tenure. Despite this, he noted, the party continues to face criticism and media trials, even though Sindh’s development record remains unmatched.

Memon recalled that the Special Economic Zone in Khairpur was established during the tenure of former CM Syed Qaim Ali Shah. He also cited the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences—Pakistan’s only hospital offering lung and liver transplants—as a source of pride for the district.

Praising Khairpur’s political consistency, he said the district has repeatedly placed its trust in PPP candidates because of their service delivery. He added that under Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s leadership, Sindh has launched the world’s largest free housing program, providing homes to 2.2 million families. Labor Cards for workers and Hari Cards for farmers have also been introduced to support livelihoods.

Addressing rising fuel costs, Memon said the Sindh government is subsidizing fares and paying part of each passenger’s cost to keep the Peoples Bus Service affordable. He announced that more buses would be allocated to Khairpur under the new scheme, with Pink Bus and Pink Scooty services soon to follow for safe, dignified transport for women.

He said infrastructure work on water supply, roads, and other projects is progressing rapidly across Sindh. Criticizing political opponents, he remarked that some parties form pre-election alliances but continue to face public rejection, while the PPP’s support in Sindh remains unmatched.

Memon added that Pakistan’s youth need visionary leadership like Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who has effectively represented Pakistan internationally and countered India’s narrative. He recalled the contributions of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in making Pakistan a nuclear power, Benazir Bhutto in advancing missile technology, and Asif Ali Zardari in strengthening defense through key agreements. He said Bilawal has forcefully raised the Kashmir issue at global forums.

At the event, MNA Syeda Nafisa Shah Jilani, MNA Syed Javed Ali Shah, MPA Halar Khan Wassan, PPP District President Nawab Khan Wassan, and Deputy Commissioner Altaf Ahmed Chachar also spoke, welcoming the new bus routes as a major step for public convenience.

The ceremony concluded with Memon formally inaugurating the routes by cutting the ribbon at the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Bus Terminal.
